Rosacea skin sufferers know how difficult is to look after the skin at home without professional help.

There are a few things that could help if your skin is rosacea-prone.

Clean

First of all, you need to know, that all face care routine is still the same. You need to try your skin to get into a healthy status, and those habits that we develop are long-term habits.

Your face wash is the first step to whatever skin condition you have – you have to wash off dirt, dust, pollution, and excess oil. Choose gentle cleansers or hydrating cleansers for your skin. Try to avoid anything that has active ingredients, things as glycolic acid or salicylic acid, in your face wash (unless recommended by a professional for your specific case). Your aim should be to wash and cleanse – not to irritate your skin even more. Sometimes is a good idea to use cleansing creams or even cleansing oils – those are less irritant.

If your chosen brand needs toner after the face wash – do not skip that step, this is very important. And you know why? Because cleansers must be washed off with no residue left on the skin – toner must clean any residue that is left on the skin. Also, toner calms down the skin and balances PH after the wash.

Treat

Vitamin C is the most loveable ingredient of all time. And yes, that one should be one of your favourites. Vitamin C has many benefits, but for rosacea – vitamin C works towards strengthening the capillary wall. So your capillaries will be more elastic and will have the ability to contract.

Not all the products are made the same, and especially you have to be careful when choosing the correct vitamin C formulation.

If you decide to exfoliate your skin at home – try to choose exfoliants that do not have those abrasive bits. Especially if they are made of plastic. Enzymatic exfoliants are my favourite anyway. I would suggest – you use the same.

Any hydrating/ calming mask will give you more comfort. But if your skin barrier is compromised – the benefit will be very temporary.

Protect

You should find a suitable moisturizer for your skin. And I am certain, that your skin adviser already has recommended one for you, based on your current condition. Keep in mind, that rosacea skin conditions can change rapidly, meaning that you also should learn how to recognize those changes and adapt quickly.

I am sure that you already know your reason for rosacea. And whatever that reason is – sun protection is a MUST. For rosacea skin mineral sun protection, creams are the most suitable.

Get professional help

If your rosacea skin is active, do not hesitate to contact your skin care professional – as he will advise on products suitable for your rosacea case. And if you can, get some help in caring for your skin professionally, especially if your skin is burning and uneven in texture.

Calming facials, chemical peels, mesotherapy, IPL treatments are well tolerated and have good results in treating rosacea-prone skin.
